Tin City Saloon in Hill City is a local bar and grill that features a mix of bar food, comfort food and “pretty much any alcoholic beverage under the moon.”

Owner Jessica Jacobs says they do signature cocktails and they’re always experimenting with new and different things so they can make it fun and make people come back for more.

The saloon has a patio outside that sits about 75 to 100 people, and a dining room that sits 55 to 60 people. The dining room is also part of the old Fire Hall.

Besides serving drinks and food, Jessica tries to embrace the history of the area and try to incorporate it into the decor.

“So Tin City actually is a focus on local history because Tin City or Hill City used to be a mining town,” said Jessica. “It kind of went bust after gold was discovered up by Deadwood. But then tin was discovered in this area, so it became a tin mining town.”

According to Jessica, there were over 1,000 tin mining claims around the area at one point in time.

One of Tin City Saloon’s most notable features is the veteran wall.

“Military veterans and first responders are all super important,” Jessica said. “ My dad and my stepdad and my little brother are all combat vets. So this wall, it was done for me by Fisher Beverage, and we salute all of the branches of the military, but we encourage people to bring in their patch and patch our wall, whether it’s a military patch, a law enforcement patch, something for first responders. That’s kind of our way of giving them their moment to be proud.”

They also have different events and fundraisers that focus on the military. They’ve helped support Mission 22 and Operation Ride Home.
